It isn’t fluffy, and still deals with darker subjects, but it isn’t brutal.** **Pepper Winters is known for her Dark Erotica. I’d tasted what she could offer me and damned if I would let her go. We also visited Chastleton House in Oxfordshire, to see its secret room. Sara and I also attended an Evensong service at the church of All Saints there, where the Reverend Andrew Evans delivered a beautiful sermon that touched us both. The exterior and grounds were much as I’d imagined them, though the interior is quite a bit different than my depiction of Pembrooke Park. I enjoy travel, research, BBC period dramas, long hikes, short naps, and coffee with friends. I have also been honored with the Midwest Book Award and Christian Retailing’s BEST Award. We met several gracious, helpful people there (including Linda who secured places for us on the last tour of the day), and enjoyed hearing about its rich history and seeing the medieval architecture of the manor, often used as a film location. The Secret of Pembrooke Park won the Minnesota Book Award, and The Silent Governess was a finalist in Romance Writers of America’s RITA awards. She gives you a beautiful setting of the mansion, mystery woven throughout the mansion. My friend Sara and I had the pleasure of visiting Great Chalfield in person while this book was being edited, and how lovely it is with its great hall, oriel windows, and topiary houses. The Secret of Pembrooke Park is no exception. Pembrooke Park is a fictional estate inspired by this 15th-century country house with its adjacent church, extensive gardens, and moat, located in Wiltshire, England. For many months, while I wrote The Secret of Pembrooke Park, I kept photos of Great Chalfield Manor on my bulletin board, and grew quite attached to the place. The Bride of Christ, which is the longest work of fiction cult author Montague. Written in a lush symbolist prose reminiscent of Oscar Wilde and Arthur Machen, and painted with glowing colours and awash with heavy narcotic perfumes, the title novella tells the tale of a young nun in pursuit of the Mystical Marriage who runs afoul of a reformist chaplain whose meddling throws her into interior dangers, both metaphysical and erotic.įrom accounts of the Black Mass to stories of the love which will not speak its name, this volume collects together the previously unpublished fiction of Montague Summers, decadent aesthete, Uranian, former diabolist, priest of dubious provenience and occult scholar. A complete list of all Montague Summerss books in order (20 books). The Bride of Christ: and Other Fictions (Paperback) By Montague Summers. Don’t forget old Father Christmas, when you light your tree. So, my dears, I hope you will be happy this Christmas and not quarrel, and will have some good games with your Railway all together. The Father Christmas Letters, also known as Letters from Father Christmas, are a collection of letters written and illustrated by J. I (and also my Green Brother) have had to do some collecting of food and clothes, and toys too, for the children whose fathers and mothers and friends cannot give them anything, sometimes not even dinner. If you think we have not read them you are wrong but if you find that not many of the things you asked for have come, and not perhaps quite as many as sometimes, remember that this Christmas all over the world there are a terrible number of poor and starving people. We have both, the old Polar Bear and I, enjoyed having so many nice letters from you and your pets. I send as much love as ever, in fact more. You seem to be most interested in Railways just now, so I am sending you mostly things of that sort. “I hope you will like the little things I have sent you. There, alone in the silence, the emotions she had kept at bay during the day came rushing in. She lifted her keys to the ignition, and then paused. She climbed into her worn, navy blue Honda Accord and shut out the cold. The winter wind tugged at her as she made her way across the nearly empty parking lot. She walked through the quiet lobby and pushed open one of the heavy glass doors. "See you tomorrow, Helen," she called to the receptionist. "Bye, Nicole," she said to the girl in the office beside her. She began her familiar end-of-the-day routine: tidied her desk, shut down her computer, straightened a picture on her bookshelf, got her coat from the closet, and said her goodbyes. The Utne Reader declared bell hooks one of the "100 Visionaries Who Can Change Your Life." All About Love is a powerful affirmation of just how profoundly she can. Razing the cultural paradigm that the ideal love is infused with sex and desire, she provides a new path to love that is sacred, redemptive, and healing for the individuals and for a nation. In thirteen concise chapters, hooks examines her own search for emotional connection and society's failure to provide a model for learning to love. In its place she offers a proactive new ethic for a people and a society bereft with lovelessness. As bell hooks uses her incisive mind and razor-sharp pen to explode th question "What is love?" her answers strike at both the mind and heart. Here, at her most provacative and intensely personel, the renowned scholar, cultural critic, and feminist skewers our view of love as romance. Part self-exploration, part dissection, the book identifies a scarcity of love in society and offers a road map on how to love across familial, romantic and communal bonds. "The word "love" is most often defined as a noun, yet.we would all love to better if we used it as a verb," writes bell hooks as she comes out fighting and on fire in All About Love. This classic by the feminist writer bell hooks was published over 20 years ago, but her reflections on love still feel fresh.
